october "creative awakenings" project DONE

the spiraling path graces the uninterrupted front room wall, the heart of the spiral proclaiming "10-10-10" ~ how wonderful to have made it on that numerically POWerful date. and the inner connection to make it happen!

my first entry along that path ~ we begin.

weird that it's taking FOREVER to...

...complete my AUGUST Creative Awakenings project - have been waiting for weeks for john to cut the kite's struts down to the right size. not his doing - i've kept the island too cluttered to lay it out. hmmm...

telling, that i'm stuck when it comes to FINISHING the project springing from intention to ACT.

preoccupied

ages since i've chatted about my creative meanderings. which is so not to say that little has been happening.

delighted with how my september project turned out - only august has been a chore.

this, like the rest, evolved, taking on a life & aspects of its own - most especially the bright yellow that turned deep spring green when it hit the white paper. which changed plans to paint the heart vivid spring green to mighty bright pink.

Early Hours, New Approaches

Woke up - WIDE awake - at 3:00 a.m. In attempting to get back to sleep, thought about creative projects on my horizon, including September's Creative Awakenings project. Realized I was dissatisfied with what my original intention was turning out. Maybe - just maybe - the dissatisfaction was because my muse wanted to fling herself in another direction.

Hmmmm...

Out with the didn't-quite-express-my-intention concept & in with a refining of the original idea. Instead of an unshackled heart, a whole NEW one. Create in me a new heart... Am drawing/collaging/whatever a NEW heart on the heraldry shield picked up at Michael's a couple months back, complete with piece for motto ~ TAKE HEART.

Yep, that sings with me, having evolved as Creative Awakenings projects should ~ through the soul of intention, rather than an assigned process. The final concept - which wouldn't have occurred to me earlier in the month, its time not yet having arrived - came unbidden, yet somehow called.

Lunch Dates

Have decided to have myself a "virtual" lunch date every day - one way to avoid eating the massively stupid, unhealthy lunches I've been bloating myself with recently, largely due to feeling alone & unconnected. Healthy lunches with metaphysical lunch partners should cure my "I long to NOT eat alone" yearnings.

Pretty cool - have entire universe & all of time from which to pick & choose!!

novice

that's me - a total novice at making a papier mache figure. how to make the mesh heart to cover over with strips of prepped paper? best way to cover? how long to dry? what to use as the "unchained" strips boinging around it?

Submission & Acceptance

John submitted his second piece to the juried Phillips' Mill Art show and - 2nd year in a row - the jurists for the prestigious show accepted his piece, Pennsy Veteran. Love that he is getting known throughout the Bucks County circle of great artists as one of their own.

It's been truly awe-some experiencing how John has helped boost my confidence in my artistic & other ventures and to know how much my encouragement & support has increased his.

Twenty years ago, neither of us thought of ourselves as any great shakes when it came to being creative. John saw himself as strictly technical, good in a commercial, technical way but certainly not what he'd have termed a fine artist; look at him now, respected & applauded by people HE respects. Soul satisfying.

And John has much the same impact on me. I pooh-poohed that anyone would have the slightest interests in my boxes, yet ended up with a 1-woman show - Boxologie - at Orchard Artworks. He's encouraged me to pursue my baking passion with CUPCAKEcalifragilistic! and to continue taking my own artistic talents seriously.

John complements me and helps draw out a bigger, bolder, brighter version of his Ellie B. than what I see on my own. We don't make the other whole, just stronger versions of who we are!

Every one of us has in him a continent of undiscovered character. Blessed is he who acts the Columbus to his own soul.

Unchained Heart

Actually, more like unshackled, but it doesn't sound as poetic.

My September creative expression of deep intention will be a large 3-dimension papier mache heart, painted gold, with starched ribbon bonds springing back from where they once manacled the heart. Liberation. Burst by an expanding heart, rather than cut or slashed with scissors or a blade.

Now to figure out how to create a mesh form for the central feature!

Piffling along

This blog is about my creative awakening.

No deep, pithy thoughts, just lots of creative musings & some occasional piffle as I meander along all sorts of life's lanes, humming a Poohish hum, as flexing my creative muscles opens life up in front of me, enticing me to ramble onto new adventures, in new guises, with familiar & unexpected companions.
